Rent a bike from THOL Rental or elsewhere:

Renting a motorbike in Cambodia can be a great way to explore the country, but there are some important rules and considerations to keep in mind:

  1. Valid License: Make sure you have an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your home country’s driver’s license. Cambodian authorities require this for foreigners riding motorbikes over 125cc.
  2. Insurance: Check if the rental includes insurance. It’s advisable to have personal travel insurance that covers motorcycle accidents. THOL offers at least Third Party Liability, and you can add to this one a Full cover guaranty for the Rented Bike, Pilot, and 1 passenger. Read carefully the exclusions to avoid surprises.
  3. Helmet: Wearing a helmet is mandatory for both riders and passengers.
  4. Inspect the Bike: Before renting, inspect the motorbike for any damage and take photos. This can help avoid disputes over damages when returning the bike, especially if you didn’t get the Full cover insurance option.
  5. Fuel Policy: Understand the fuel policy. Some rentals come with a full tank, it is our policy, and you return it full… while others require you to return it full even if you took it empty.
  6. Road Conditions: Be aware that road conditions can vary greatly. Ride cautiously, especially in rural areas or during the rainy season.
  7. Traffic Rules: Follow local traffic laws. Be aware that traffic can be chaotic, and driving styles may differ significantly from what you’re used to.
  8. Local Registration: Some rental companies may provide bikes that are not properly registered. Ensure that your rental company is reputable and provides legal vehicles. At THOL Rental all our bikes are fully registered including the road taxes.
  9. Parking: Park in designated areas and be cautious of theft. Always lock your bike and avoid leaving valuables visible.
  10. Rental Agreement: Read the rental agreement carefully. Understand the terms regarding deposits, fees for damages, and what to do in case of an accident.

Being cautious and prepared will help ensure a smooth experience while enjoying the freedom of riding in Cambodia. If you have any specific questions or need more tips, feel free to ask!
